Mercedes - Founder & Nursery Teacher
Mercedes is the founder and toddler teacher of Mechita Temescal, with 20+ ECE credits and over a decade of hands-on experience. She prepares all meals fresh daily and believes that real food, gentle routines, and warm caregiving help children thrive. Teaching is her passion and identity, and she nurtures every child with the same love she raised her own family with.

Mechita - Director
Mechita grew up in the program and now serves as Director, with an AA in Early Childhood Education (Merritt College, 2025), Montessori-certified educator and experience across Montessori, Reggio, Forest-School–inspired, and Spanish-immersion programs. She also teaches and mentors through nonprofit organizations and believes deeply that "give a child what they need, and they will succeed." She oversees the program with a whole-child, no-trade-offs philosophy..

Gaby - Lead Teacher
Gaby holds a BA in Child Development & Early Childhood and brings a warm, steady, and creative approach to the classroom. She leads Spanish immersion, circle time, and art activities with confidence and care. Children love her calm presence and joyful teaching style.

Beto - Support Staff
Beto provides reliable, familiar support during lunch breaks and transitions throughout the day. He helps keep routines smooth and ensures children always see a trusted face. His steady presence strengthens the calm, predictable rhythm of the program.

Margarita (Helen) - Administrative Assistant
Helen was born and raised in Oakland, California. She is Mercedes’ daughter and Mechita’s sister. Helen is bilingual in Spanish and English and supports administrative operations while studying Computer Science at California State University, East Bay. In her free time, Helen enjoys hiking and traveling.
